UPSC Recruitment February 2014 - Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Examination

Union Public Service Commission are invited  online applications for recruitment to the posts of Geologist/Geophysicist/Chemist Group A in Geological Survey of India Jr. Hydrogeologists (Scientist B) Group A in Central Ground Water Board, as per the details given below:
Name of Post :- Geologist Group A in Geological Survey of India
No. of  Vacancies:- 100 posts 
Qualification :- Candidates must have  Master’s Degree in Geological Science / Geology / Applied Geology / Geo-Exploration
Age :- Between 21-32 years as on 01/08/2014

Name of Post :- Geophysicist Group A in Geological Survey of India

No. of  Vacancies:- 80 posts
Qualification :- M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics or M.Sc. (Geophysics) or Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Marine Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics) from a University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature in India or other educational institutes established by an Act of the Parliament or declared to be deemed universities under the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
Age :- Between 21-32 years as on 01/08/2014

Name of Post :- Chemist Group A in Geological Survey of India

No. of  Vacancies:- 80 posts 
Qualification :- M. Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature or other educational Institutes established by an Act of the Parliament or declared to be deemed Universities under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (3 of 1956) i.e. recognized University.
Age :- Between 21-32 years as on 01/08/2014

Name of Post :- Jr. Hydrogeologists (Scientist B) Group A in Central Ground Water Board

No. of  Vacancies:- 05 posts
Qualification :- Candidates must have Master’s Degree in Hydrogeology / Marine Geology /Geology / Applied Geology/ from a recognized university.
Age :- Between 21-35 years as on 01/08/2014

Examination Fee (Non-Refundable) :- Candidates (excepting Female/SC/ST/ PH who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a fee of Rs. 200/- either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI, State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/ State Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/ State Bank of Patiala/ State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/Master Credit/ Debit Card.

How to Apply :- Interested & Eligible Candidates may Apply Online at below link. Candidate  are requested, Before filling up the form candidates are advised to carefully go through the Notification  at Log on below link.to access the home page of the "ONLINE APPLICATION". Click on " Online application for various examinations of UPSC " Place the mouse over the 'Examination' menu. The link would display a set of two options namely "PART-I Registration" and "PART-II Registration". Clicking on "PART-I Registration" link would take you to the list of all the active examinations, where you can select to apply for any of the listed examination by clicking on the link "Click Here" against each exam.
Clicking on "PART-II Registration" would take you to the second part of the online application, which we will discuss and follow later in these instructions.
When the candidate clicks on Click Here link for the particular examination (as indicated in step 4) he will be redirected to a new page for entering into PART-I Registration of Online Application.
Click on the Continue button to proceed for the PART-I Registration. Clicking on 'Continue' button opens-up a fresh blank form for the PART-I Registration. The Part-I Registration process is FURTHER divided into 4(FOUR) pages in which the candidates have to fill in the information, particulars and details asked for. Fields with red STAR (*) marks are mandatory and essential to be filled in by the candidate. Below every field clear instructions for filling up are written which should be carefully read and strictly followed by the candidates while filling up the form. Page-wise information asked are as follows:- 
Page One:Here the system inter-alia asks for Candidate's Personal Information including 'Name', 'DOB', 'Father's name', 'Mother's name', 'Address', whether the candidate falls in the 'Physically Challenged status and category, 'Community the candidate belongs to (General, OBC, SC, ST), whether 'Fee Remission' is claimed, whether he/she belongs to minority etc. Instructions are given below each field, which may be read carefully and followed strictly.
[Candidates may note that Female, Physically Handicapped, SC and ST, candidates are not required to pay fee. When the candidates choose ST or SC in "Community" field OR Female in "Gender" field OR YES in "Physically Challenged " field ; "YES" response is indicated in the "fee remission claimed" field by default which they are not required to change. These candidates will not be taken through the "fee payment details page" where the candidates are supposed to fill in the Payment Details while filling up Part-II of the Online Application.]
Click on "Continue" button at bottom of the page to go to the second page.
Page Two:Here the system asks for "Claiming age Relaxation".  The candidate is to select particulars for claiming age relaxation and if /she wants to claim age relaxation, after clicking "yes" in the field, certain code will be available to the candidate which he/she has to select after clicking on "CLICK" for category code. Click on "Continue" button at bottom of the page to go to the third page.
Page Three:Here the system displays all the information provided by the candidate in the application form for verification. 'Update' button is also provided therein at the bottom of the Online Application details to move back and make any correction in the information filled in. The candidates are advised to check the filled in details and satisfy themselves that all information is correctly filled up. No change in information filled in by the candidates would be allowed at any subsequent stage of the examination process.
Declaration box:  At the bottom of the page there is a 'Declaration' for the candidates. Candidates are advised to go through the contents of the Declaration carefully. Candidate has the option to either agree or disagree with the contents of Declaration by clicking on 'I Agree' or 'I Do Not Agree' buttons. In case the candidate opts to disagree, the application will be dropped and the procedure will be terminated. Accepting to agree only will submit the candidate's Online Application, and the Part-I data submitted would be saved and a Registration Idgenerated for the candidate. Fourth page is displayed.
Page Four:Here the system Displays the system generated unique 'Registration ID' along with the essential identification information about the candidate viz. 'Name', 'Father's Name', 'Mother's name',  'DOB', 'Address', 'Examination Centre' etc. opted by the candidate. The candidate is also intimated that he has completed PART-I of the Registration of Online Application procedure. The candidates may however note that Application would be treated as incomplete and rejected unless accompanied with Part-II Registration.

Here Part-I of the Online Application procedure is completed. A candidate has to complete the Part-II Registration for the successful Online Application submission.
